Author Interview: Hannah Calhoon
- Tell us about yourself. How long have you been writing, and what made you want to pursue it as a career?
I’ve been making up stories for as long as I can remember, but when I was seven I started writing them down. And that was when I found out that I wanted to be an author. I wrote tiny stores off and on until about a year and a half ago. Then I started seriously writing and since then I have written four full novels and too many half novels and short stories to want to go count.
- Can you tell us about your main WIP?
So my current WIP is about a watchmaker's daughter who is going on a watch tour with her father. She gets her watch selling permit and then her father is allowed to show her the watch magic. She also finds out on her own that there’s a clock portal into another world, and goes in it. But the problem is that she can’t get out… at least that's the plot right now. But I'm only two chapters in so it could change quite a bit!
- What inspires you to write? Who are some authors you look up to?
Some author who I look up to are Sarah Arthur, Jennie Birdsal, Anna Rose Johnson, Anna James, and Lynne Kelly!
- What is the craziest story you’ve written?
Um… maybe one about a girl how goes to the bus stop and finds a cupcake - eating water buffalo with a tutu and cowboy hat that speaks French in a very romantic accent.
- What would your main character think of you if they met you in real life and knew you were their author?
My current main character would believe me completely, (due to her past), and ask me so many questions!
- What is your favorite non-writing hobby to do?
I love gymnastics (I'm currently competing) and art!
- If you had to choose between cookies and ice cream, what would your choice be?
Ice cream with cookies on top!
- Do you have a blog/email list/socials where we can find you online?
Nope!
