Author Interview: Alivia Darlene
- Tell us about yourself. How long have you been writing, and what made you want to pursue it as a career?
I have been writing for about two years now, with the intention of writing seriously. And I wanted to pursue it as a career because I realized that I liked it a lot and that it COULD be my career. I was introduced to writing through YWW (the Young Writer’s Workshop), and they gave me a perspective that I would never have had otherwise. Writing also gives me the opportunity to change people, for better or worse, and the idea of that brings me so much happiness!
- Can you tell us about your main WIP?
My main WIP at the moment is in the first editing stage! It is about a young lady that loses her mom and her journey working through that and getting closer to God (it might also have a romance in it *wink wink*).
- What inspires you to write? Who are some authors you look up to?
My inspiration for writing is a lot of things actually. The main one is using my talents to bless others and share the light of Christ. But writing is also very therapeutic for me. Writing characters and feelings and beautiful places, but also writing pain and sorrow and very hard things really helps me in my life when I look at it. Because Jesus Christ is the author of our lives, and just like I might put my character through something hard to make them better, He does the same for me.
Authors I look up to include: God, (because He is the ultimate author), Kara Swanson, Brandon Sanderson, Bryan Davis, Lyla Rose, Asabella Graves, and about ten more that I can’t think of right now XD All of them are just AMAZING and have changed me with something they have written. I truly look up to them and hope that someday I can pick things up from them.
- What is the craziest story you’ve written?
Oh let’s see… hmm… I really haven’t written many crazy stories, though some of them are pretty bazaar XD though I would say the funniest one I have written was for my little brother about a little fantasy creature I came up with. He was obsessed with it XD
- What would your main character think of you if they met you in real life and knew you were their author?
My main character? Oh she would probably be really mad at me XD Though it honestly depends on if I met her at the beginning, middle, or end of my story.
- What is your favorite non-writing hobby to do?
Taekwondo. Definitely. I have been doing it for six years now and it is one of my favorite hobbies. Though second favorite hobby would definitely be reading.
- If you had to choose between cookies and ice cream, what would your choice be?
Ice cream, obviously XD Specifically Grass Hopper HEB brand. Which is Mint with chocolate cookies in it.
- Do you have a blog/email list/socials where we can find you online?
Not at the moment.
