Hi! I’m Lyla – it’s so nice to meet you!

This blog started with a dream. A dream to write. A dream to create. A dream to inspire.

But as easily as a dream can be ignited, it can be extinguished. Every day teenagers are faced with the “reality” that they have to grow up – that dreams are all that they’ll ever be. But that’s not always the case.

Sometimes your dream is a candle. A small, brave flame for you to carry and grow. And your job is to shine this light to others, using whatever gifts and talents you’ve been given to serve your Creator.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Matthew 14-16 ESV

I enjoy many things – reading, writing, singing, photography, filmmaking, swimming, and art to name a few. I love piano, various languages, graphic design, and baking. These may seem totally unrelated, but they’re here to prove a point. Maybe I’m called to be a writer. Maybe I’m called to be a singer. Maybe I’m called to be a photographer. Or maybe I’m called to be all of these things….on different levels. I can use all of my interests and ideas to help and serve the people around me, even if my main goal is to be an author.

And the same is true for you. Whatever you enjoy doing, whatever you’re passionate about, whatever inspires you – do that thing. Shine Christ’s light to the people around you.

My goal here is not only to write, but to explore all of my interests. I want to serve you. I want to give you access to resources and entertainment that can bring you joy, spark your creativity, and inspire you to go out into the world and shine His light for all to see. Because we weren’t meant to keep our candles under our baskets of self-focused pride, or pity, or fear of man, or whatever it is we’re struggling with. We were made to shine.
